PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donal Drew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Shaun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun has chosen The Soviettes - "#1 Is Number Two" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drew misses with a looping left.
Shaun fails to land the takedown.
Drew swinging wilding here.
Drew connects with a solid leg kick.
Shaun moves out of range of the leg kick from Drew.
Shaun misses with a takedown attempt - Drew sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Drew does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaun fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Shaun looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Drew is fending him off so far but Shaun persists. Nope, Drew circles away and we're back to standing.
A slapping leg kick lands for Drew.
Shaun shoots in looking for a takedown. Drew tries to sprawl out of it but Shaun keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Drew manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Drew throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Shaun dodges the punch combination from Drew.
Drew throws a body punch but Shaun moves out of range.
Drew connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Shaun shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shaun showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Drew throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Drew makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Drew.
Shaun wants to pass the guard but Drew is keeping the position.

Drew has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shaun is working away from the top position though.

Shaun seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Drew does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Drew swings for the body but Shaun moves out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Drew shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Shaun closes the distance and clinches.

Shaun blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Shaun gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Shaun is looking for a kimura but Drew is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shaun to get the leverage.

Drew flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Shaun wants to pass to mount but Drew is defending the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drew trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Drew throws a leg kick but Shaun moved away.
Drew clinches but Shaun breaks the clinch

and Shaun counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shaun.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shaun gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drew clobbers Shaun with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Drew just misses with a punch to the body.
Shaun shoots for a double leg takedown but Drew sprawls well. He's pushed Shaun's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Drew looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Drew throws a series of punches but Shaun moves out of range.

Drew throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shaun stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Shaun sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Drew's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaun is tying to control. Drew wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Drew is looking for a sweep. Shaun is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Shaun is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Drew defends it well.

Shaun is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Drew can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Drew is looking to improve his position but Shaun isn't that keen on the idea.

Shaun looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Drew tries to lock up and control but Shaun gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Shaun lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Shaun.

Shaun has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Drew is defending well but eventually Shaun manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Drew has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
