PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Obadia Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sa Pinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stark comes to the cage accompanied by Mein Herz Brennt. Pinto has chosen Grande Sá as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stark tries to avoid it but Pinto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stark to the ground. Stark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stark tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pinto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Pinto decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stark's guard.
Pinto looking to sit in guard and control but Stark gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stark postures up in Pinto's guard and throws a big left but Pinto blocks it.
Stark postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stark wants to get up but he can't break Pinto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

and Stark counters with a head kick that drops Pinto to the mat! Pinto scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Stark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pinto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stark sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Pinto on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Stark lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pinto backwards.
Pinto tries to break free but Stark pushes him back against the cage.

Stark has Pinto pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pinto manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Stark avoids the elbow strike from Pinto, against the cage.

Stark pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stark throws a sloppy head kick and Pinto moves out of range easily.

That has opened up Sa Pinto's cut even more.
Stark stuffs the takedown.

Stark drives through and clinches with Pinto against the cage.

Stark has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pinto uses from the top position.

Pinto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stark sprawls well initially but Pinto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Stark tries to kick Pinto off but Pinto keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stark might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Stark trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Stark tries to get to full guard but Pinto has control of the leg.
Pinto frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Stark is squirming around, avoiding Pinto's attempts to control the action.
Stark is trying to reverse the position but instead Pinto has taken his back - oops!
Sa Pinto has got the better of the ground game so far.

Pinto is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Stark has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Pinto has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Stark taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Pinto doesn't care though - he's delighted!
