PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Asa Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Asa Snow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Stark!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Francis DeMontford and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stark uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Snow.
Snow scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Stark shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Snow as he avoids it easily.
Stark tries to score a power double leg takedown but Snow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stark somewhat.

Snow clinches up with Stark and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Stark has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Snow after a bit of a struggle.
Asa Snow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Stark.
Snow has Stark pushed against the cage.

Stark is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Snow prevents the takedown attempt.
Snow jumps guard but Stark turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Stark is trying to drag Snow to the mat but Snow just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Snow has had enough of the clinch but Stark keeps him there for the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stark can't get the takedown.
Snow tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Snow stops a takedown attempt from Stark.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Snow tries to clinch but Stark moves away

and Stark counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Snow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Snow will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stark tries to stand but Snow is controlling from the bottom.

Stark stands up from Snow's guard - Stark perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stark keeps the fight on the outside.

Snow connects with a right hand. Stark shakes it off.
Tony Stark is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Snow tries to clinch but Stark moves away
and Stark counters with a left and a right that stings Snow.

Horrible takedown attempt by Stark or perhaps it was just good defense by Snow, which made it look bad.

Snow stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Snow wants it to stay on the feet.

Stark gets to his feet - Snow follows without any prompting.

Stark takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Snow tries to clinch but Stark is having none of it.

Snow closes the distance and pushes Stark back into the cage.
Snow tries to break the clinch but Stark is controlling the position.
Stark drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stark can't get the takedown.

Snow is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stark to keep the fight standing.
Stark misses with the head strike.
Snow unloads a knee to the mid-section. Stark lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Snow has had enough of the clinch but Stark keeps him there for the moment.

Snow jumps into guard, dragging Stark to the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stark stands up and waves to Snow to follow him.
Stark takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Asa Snow will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Asa Snow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stark throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Snow's waist but Snow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stark off to one side.
A left lands for Snow.
The crowd cheers as Snow lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stark doesn't seem phased though.
Snow fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Snow waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Stark.
Snow darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Snow is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Snow dives in and grabs Stark's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stark pushes down on Snow's head and hops out.

Snow tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice takedown defense from Stark. No joy for Snow on that attempt.
Stark has a takedown stuffed.
Stark fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Snow avoids it really well and circles away.
Asa Snow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Stark.
Snow lands with a kick to the temple. Stark shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Stark needs to keep his hands up - Snow had a free shot at his head there.

Stark shoots in and drives through. Snow sprawls well.
Snow is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Snow clinches up with Stark and pushes him back against the cage.
Snow is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stark can do to turn this around?
Snow wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stark is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Stark jumps into guard, dragging Snow to the mat.
Snow engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Stark looking to control.

Stark manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Snow controlling the action here for a moment.
Snow is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stark to keep the fight standing.
Stark is looking to take this one to the mat.
Stark blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Snow misses with a body punch.
Snow misses with a hook to the ribs.
Snow really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Snow tries to break the clinch but Stark is controlling the position.
Stark tries to score a body lock takedown but Snow shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stark has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Snow avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Snow tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stark just stands there and leans against the cage.
Tony Stark has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Asa Snow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Stark working aggressively here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Snow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
