Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Oscar Santon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Mathers!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mathers circles away quickly and effectively.
Santon tries to clinch but Mathers moves out of range.
Mathers blocks a leg kick.
Mathers scores with a body shot.

Mathers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santon, pushing him back against the cage.
Mathers tries to pull guard but Santon forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Santon is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Mathers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mathers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mathers has an active guard here but Santon has managed to pass into half guard.

Mathers looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santon is looking to stall here but Mathers recovers full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mathers working for a triangle but Santon defends it easily.

Mathers has his foot on Santon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Santon works his way back into a safe position though.
Santon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mathers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mathers keeping moving, preventing Santon from controlling successfully.

Santon gets to his feet - Mathers follows without any prompting.
Mathers throws a nice looking combination but Santon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Santon thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mathers if he has to take too many more of those.
Mathers looks winded!

Santon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santon is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mathers is in trouble now - Santon has advanced to mount!
Santon looking to control but Mathers is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Mathers has left one of his arms exposed and Santon doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Mathers screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
