The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrd looks to land a combination but Nunez avoids it well.
Byrd throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nunez takes one to the chin there.
Byrd misses with a two punch combination.
Nunez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Byrd swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Byrd ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

The fight stays on the outside here - Nunez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Byrd misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Byrd lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nunez circles away quickly and effectively.
Byrd scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Chris Byrd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nunez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Byrd just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nunez has Byrd pressed against the cage, preventing Byrd from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Nunez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Byrd throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nunez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nunez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Byrd manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Nunez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Byrd wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Byrd throws a pinpoint strike between Nunez's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Nunez crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Byrd scores a great knockout victory!

Chris Byrd spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
