PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Young!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Young changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Battle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ground and pound from Young seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Battle defending against the ground and pound.
Battle is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Young has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Young throws a strike aimed at the side of Battle's head but Battle avoids it well.
Battle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Young decides to stand back up. Young steps back and let's Battle get back to his feet.

Young fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Battle sprawls well initially but Young persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young throwing shots but Battle is blocking nicely.

Young is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Battle sees it coming and defends easily.

Young is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Young thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Young is looking to take a break and control but Battle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Young wants to free his trapped foot but Battle is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Battle is looking to improve his position.
Young is trying to control the action in half guard but Battle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Young shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Young throwing shots but Battle is blocking nicely.
Battle is not content to let Young control the position.
Battle tries to roll over but Young keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Battle is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Young pulls his head out easily.
Young throws a strike but Battle avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Battle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Young trying to control the position from guard on top but Battle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Young throwing strikes but missing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Young shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Young was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Young tries to move into full mount but can't pass Battle's legs.
Young trying to control the action but Battle is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Young is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Young dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Young gets the takedown into side control.
Young fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Young wants to lay and pray for a moment but Battle keeps working.

Young working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battle dodges the ground and pound from Young.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Young in side control, throwing shots but Battle defends.
Young is trying to ground and pound but Battle uses the momentary lack of control by Young to regain half guard.

Young is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Battle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Young.

Young looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Young wants to take a breather but Battle is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Young seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Anderson Battle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Young closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Battle quickly recovers to half guard.
Young is taking a breather. Battle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Battle is looking for a sweep. Young is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Young stalling away here and it's allowed Battle to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Battle throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Young is looking to advance position but Battle has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


Battle swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Young is now in Battle's guard. A big mistake from Battle there, giving up the dominant position!
Battle keeping full guard, as Young tries to pass.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Young showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Young stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Battle to get to his feet.

Young stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Battle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Battle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Battle has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Young doesn't defend quickly enough and Battle has managed to lock this one up! Can Young escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Battle on a fantastic submission victory.
