Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sami Sykloni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sykloni might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Within Temptation - Whole World Is Watching. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sami Sykloni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Charles!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Charles.
We've been hearing reports that Sykloni has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Sykloni throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Charles looks to land a left hand but Sykloni moved out of range nicely.

David Charles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sykloni takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sykloni takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Charles throws a wild body kick that Sykloni sees coming a mile off.

Charles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Charles wants to control but Sykloni is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sykloni haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Sykloni is looking to regain half guard here but Charles keeps moving and retains side control.

Sykloni is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Charles off and has taken his back!

Sykloni is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Charles manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sykloni manages to get himself to full guard.

Charles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Charles is looking to work some ground and pound but Sykloni has wrist control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sykloni holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Charles uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sykloni.
A jab from Charles finds it's way through Sykloni's defenses.
Sykloni tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Charles was well out of range. Poor timing from Sykloni.
Charles unleashes a big counter combination but Sykloni bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Sykloni takes a shot right to the bread basket.

and Sykloni counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Charles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Charles smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Charles avoids the body shot from Sykloni.
Charles throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sykloni on the side of the head.

Sykloni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Charles napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sykloni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Charles keeps working.
The strikes coming from Sykloni are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charles is looking for a sweep.

Charles is not content to let Sykloni control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Charles is trying to get back to half guard.
Sykloni remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sykloni postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Charles looks a forlorn figure.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sykloni throwing strikes here but Charles is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's time! Sykloni's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Charles throws a punch but it's blocked by Sykloni.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sykloni creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Charles tightens his grip and picks Sykloni up, before dumping him to the ground. Sykloni manages to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Charles does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Charles shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sami Sykloni.
I think Sykloni has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
