Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Axel Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaakko Paukku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rose comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Child O Mine. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Axel Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rose fails to land the takedown.
Rose shoots in for a takedown but Paukku shows good takedown defense.

Rose bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rose trying to control the action but Paukku is working from the bottom.
Paukku manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Paukku is looking to improve his position.
Paukku slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Rose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paukku swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rose accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rose drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Paukku dives on top into guard.
Paukku must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Paukku throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rose works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rose is looking for a triangle but Paukku pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rose is breathing heavily.
Paukku trying to control but Rose is working from the bottom.
Paukku is working Rose over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Rose has momentary wrist control but Paukku slips an elbow through the middle.

Paukku drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paukku jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Paukku is looking to work some ground and pound but Rose has wrist control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rose takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A nice combination there by Paukku.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A right-left combo lands from Paukku.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Paukku.
Rose shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Paukku as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Axel Rose. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paukku looks for the body kick but Rose saw that one coming.
A head kick misses from Paukku.
Rose will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Paukku tries to bum rush Rose with a series of wild strikes but Rose uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A nice combination there by Paukku.
Rose shoots for a takedown but Paukku saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Paukku scores with a one two! Rose had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Rose shoots in looking for a takedown. Paukku tries to sprawl out of it but Rose keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paukku manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rose tries to clinch there but Paukku circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paukku stalks Rose and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rose's face. Rose staggers backwards, shaken.
Rose changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paukku tries to avoid it but Rose manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paukku to the ground. Paukku escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paukku scores with a one two! Rose had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Paukku goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Rose shoots in but Paukku avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Axel Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oh Rose is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

A big right followed by a crushing left from Paukku knocks Rose out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
