PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ardian Shiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Achilles Leonidas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shiba comes into the arena with Theme tune Mohammed rapes children blaring out of the sound system. Leonidas has chosen Best of Me as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leonidas on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Leonidas clinches up with Shiba and pushes him back against the cage.

Shiba breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Leonidas has taken the fight to the clinch.

Shiba breaks from the clinch.
Leonidas throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Shiba counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Leonidas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shiba is one step ahead there.

Shiba wants to control from the top but Leonidas keeps moving.

Leonidas wants to sweep here but Shiba controlling him for the moment.
Shiba trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Leonidas is adopting a defensive guard.
Leonidas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Leonidas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Shiba wants to get back to full guard.

Shiba is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Leonidas wants to advance to full mount but Shiba doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Leonidas wants to stand but Shiba has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shiba striking off his back but it's not causing Leonidas any problems.
Leonidas won't allow Shiba to sweep him here.

Shiba pulls Leonidas in to control the position.

Shiba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Leonidas is one step ahead there.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Leonidas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shiba has his foot on Leonidas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Leonidas works his way back into a safe position though.
Shiba is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Shiba tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Leonidas connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Ardian Shiba has been cut.
Shiba shoots in looking for a takedown but Leonidas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shiba's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Shiba closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Shiba tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Leonidas's elbow.

Shiba misses with a hook to the ribs.
Leonidas tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shiba avoids it.
Shiba is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Leonidas is defending well for now.
Shiba lands an uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Shiba.
Leonidas can't find room to land a body shot as Shiba controls the action.

Shiba throws a punch but it's blocked by Leonidas.
Leonidas lands with a left to the head.
Shiba lands a right hand that snaps the head of Leonidas backwards.
Shiba blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shiba using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Leonidas has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Leonidas lands a good knee to the midsection. Shiba won't want to take too many of those.
Leonidas throws a knee to the head but misses.
Shiba can't break the clinch.

Shiba tries for a takedown but Leonidas manages to get underhooks.
Shiba is breathing heavily.

Shiba blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Achilles Leonidas will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ardian Shiba's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Leonidas lands a nice looking kick to the body. Shiba takes a step back to recover.
Shiba looks to throw the jab but Leonidas is out of range.
Shiba's jab looks to have found its range, popping Leonidas under the eye.
Leonidas ducks under a wild hook from Shiba.
Leonidas moves out of range of the strikes.

Shiba shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leonidas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Leonidas is trying to control Shiba's posture but Shiba avoids it.
Shiba creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Leonidas sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Leonidas manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shiba is looking to improve his position.

Leonidas seems to be looking for submissions.

Leonidas is looking for a kimura but Shiba is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Leonidas to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shiba regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shiba is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shiba is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leonidas is aware though and is defending well.

Leonidas gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Leonidas takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Leonidas attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Leonidas connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shiba's hands.
Shiba jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Shiba moves out of range of the body kick from Leonidas.
Shiba walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Donk. Shiba catches Leonidas right on the button with a cross.

Shiba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Achilles Leonidas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Leonidas takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Leonidas scores with a jab. Shiba acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Leonidas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shiba looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Leonidas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Leonidas lands a big head kick that sends Shiba tumbling to the mat! Leonidas takes a step backwards and waves Shiba back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Shiba is rocked!
Leonidas and Shiba are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Leonidas throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Shiba into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Leonidas knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Achilles Leonidas!
An intense looking Achilles Leonidas took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I want to thank my sponsors and all of my fans! My goal every show is to give the crowd an exciting fight. One day I will become Champion!! '.
