Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Buzz Sawyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saul Bergman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Buzz Sawyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Saul Bergman!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawyer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bergman's waist but Bergman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sawyer off to one side.
Bergman is looking to clinch but Sawyer is avoiding it.
Sawyer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bergman moves in looking to clinch but Sawyer pushes him off.
Bergman just misses with a punch to the body.
Bergman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Sawyer doesn't manage to clinch there - Bergman circles away.
Sawyer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bergman's waist but Bergman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sawyer off to one side.

Bergman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sawyer moves away.
Sawyer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bergman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Bergman counters by clinching up.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Buzz Sawyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sawyer is trying to drag Bergman to the mat but Bergman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Bergman misses with a knee strike.

Sawyer tries to pull guard but Bergman won't allow it.

Sawyer blocks the elbow strike.
Bergman stops a takedown attempt from Sawyer.

Bergman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sawyer clinches up with Bergman and pushes him back against the cage.

Sawyer pulls guard.
Bergman passes Sawyer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sawyer gets back to full guard.
Bergman postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bergman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sawyer's guard.
Bergman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sawyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bergman is trying to work for a kimura but Sawyer is defending well.
Sawyer gets full guard.
Sawyer is breathing heavily.
Bergman wants to control from the top but Sawyer keeps moving.
Bergman is stalling in the full guard.
Bergman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sawyer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bergman keeps trying to improve his position.

Sawyer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bergman is aware though and is defending well.

Sawyer looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bergman passes into half guard.
Bergman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Sawyer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bergman scores with a couple of nice shots.

Bergman tries to pass to full mount but Sawyer defends it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sawyer is not content to let Bergman control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bergman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sawyer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bergman throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Nice sprawl there from Bergman as Sawyer shoots in.
Sawyer is looking to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saul Bergman dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A combination from Bergman does no damage.
Bergman tries to clinch there but Sawyer circles away.

Sawyer rushes Bergman and presses him up against the cage.
Sawyer has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bergman after a bit of a struggle.

Sawyer pulls guard successfully.
Sawyer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Bergman looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bergman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sawyer is looking for a kimura but Bergman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sawyer to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bergman tries to get to full guard but Sawyer has control of the leg.
Sawyer tries to pass to full mount but Bergman defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bergman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sawyer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sawyer's back!
Bergman is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Sawyer up.
Sawyer trying to control the hands but Bergman breaks the grip.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sawyer prevents Bergman from getting a body triangle.
Sawyer tries to break free.

Bergman has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Sawyer has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bergman has Sawyer flattened out and is raining down punches.
Bergman is looking to control Sawyer but Sawyer is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Bergman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
You can see the frustration on Sawyer's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Bergman is looking for the choke from the back position but Sawyer is controlling his hands well.
Sawyer manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bergman's guard. Nice work there by Sawyer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bergman has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sawyer should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Bergman has tightened it up now! Sawyer should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
