PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Kabala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Tweeddale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yoshi Kabala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Tweeddale!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tweeddale shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kabala defends it nicely.
Kabala tries to close the distance and clinch but Tweeddale swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tweeddale darts in looking for a takedown but Kabala gets double underhooks and turns Tweeddale into the cage.
Tweeddale is struggling to control the position.
Tweeddale keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kabala's efforts to push away.
Kabala changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tweeddale fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kabala shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tweeddale as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kabala closes the distance and clinches up with Tweeddale, looking for a takedown. Kabala pushes Tweeddale against the cage but Tweeddale circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshi Kabala. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kabala fails with the takedown.
Kabala moves in looking to clinch but Tweeddale pushes him off.
Tweeddale displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kabala.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kabala tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tweeddale swivels and escapes.

Kabala closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kabala lands in his opponent's guard.
Kabala will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Tweeddale is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kabala not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kabala trying to control the position from guard on top but Tweeddale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Tweeddale has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kabala is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tweeddale.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tweeddale is trying to get back to his feet.
Kabala advances to full mount.
Kabala content just to control the position here.

Kabala is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tweeddale can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kabala unloads with some shots from mount but Tweeddale bucks and avoids them well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Tweeddale is trying to stand but he's just given Kabala his back.
Will Kabala go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Kabala has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Tweeddale! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kabala gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Yoshi Kabala!
Yoshi Kabala tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
