Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JB Brubaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Legion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brubaker comes to the cage accompanied by August Burns Red - Poor Millionaire. Legion has chosen Winds of Plague - A Cold Day in Hell/Anthems to the Apocalypse as his entrance music. Derek Legion has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, JB Brubaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Legion!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brubaker punishes Legion's body with a nice straight punch.
Brubaker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Brubaker went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Legion fails with an attempt to clinch.
Brubaker throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Brubaker changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Brubaker lands a right hook to the body.
A slow jab from Legion misses its intended target.
Brubaker feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Legion checks a low kick from Brubaker.
Brubaker misses with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Legion takes a swing at Brubaker's ribcage but misses.
Brubaker scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Brubaker throws a jab when Legion was well out of range.
Brubaker tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Legion is able to avoid easily.

Brubaker throws a lazy right hand but Legion sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
JB Brubaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brubaker fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Legion on the side of the head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Legion looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've been hearing reports that Brubaker has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Legion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Legion lands in his opponent's guard.
Legion controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Brubaker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brubaker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brubaker winds up and cracks Legion with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Brubaker is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Brubaker prevents Legion from improving his position.
Brubaker is trying to control the action in half guard but Legion is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Legion has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Legion moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Brubaker with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brubaker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Brubaker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brubaker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brubaker trying to control but Legion is working from the bottom.
Legion not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Brubaker trying to control the position from guard on top but Legion is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Legion throws a half hearted mid kick.
Brubaker is looking for a counter combo.
Legion walks into a jab.
A punch lands to the side of Brubaker 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Brubaker stuffs the takedown attempt from Legion. Legion gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Brubaker wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brubaker uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Legion.
JB Brubaker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brubaker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Legion. That did some damage!
Legion waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Brubaker.
Legion takes a swing at Brubaker's ribcage but misses.
Legion tries to clinch up.
Brubaker scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Brubaker throws a looping overhand right but Legion ducks down to avoid it.
Brubaker lands a jab to the head.
Brubaker scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Legion misses with a straight left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JB Brubaker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Legion uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brubaker.
Brubaker cracks a nice hook into Legion's ribs.

Legion looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Legion is thwarting Brubaker's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Legion takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Legion trying to pass the guard but Brubaker defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Legion seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brubaker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Legion seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Brubaker is looking for a sweep. Legion is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Brubaker trying to control but Legion postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A jab from Brubaker does it's job there.
Legion misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Brubaker.
And Brubaker counters with a quick kick to the body but Legion blocks it.
Brubaker lands a jab to the head.


It looks like Derek Legion has been cut.
Legion tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brubaker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Brubaker buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Brubaker scores with a body shot.

Brubaker looks to land a left hand but Legion moved out of range nicely.

Legion gets the takedown into side control.
Legion is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Brubaker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brubaker is being controlled here.

Legion wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brubaker, who protects the arm well.

Legion in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Brubaker tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Legion!
