Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zephyrus Belenus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, DJ Wilkins!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belenus lands an overhand right.
Belenus loads up on a big right hand but Wilkins slips the punch.
Belenus scores with a jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Belenus darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wilkins misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Belenus.

Wilkins darts in and clinches Belenus up against the cage.
Wilkins tries to throw a body punch but Belenus avoids it by throwing Wilkins back against the cage.
Wilkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Wilkins wants to get back to striking at distance but Belenus won't allow it.

Wilkins manages to break the clinch.
Belenus tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wilkins defends well and Belenus ends up having to push Wilkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The referee calls for Belenus to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Belenus is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Wilkins is defending well for now.
We've been hearing reports that Belenus has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Wilkins is trying to break the clinch but Belenus is controlling him.
Belenus lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Belenus lands a left hand that snaps the head of Wilkins backwards.
Belenus swings wildly with an uppercut but Wilkins uses good head movement to avoid it.

Belenus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wilkins moves away.
Belenus slips a jab and a cross from Wilkins.
Belenus thows a left - swing and a miss!
Belenus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Donk. Belenus catches Wilkins right on the button with a cross.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wilkins throws a hook to the side of Belenus's head but Belenus sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Wilkins closes the distance and pushes Belenus back into the cage.
Belenus tries to land knees in the clinch but Wilkins avoids the damage to the body.

Wilkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Wilkins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Belenus staying out of range there.
Wilkins throws a series of punches but Belenus moves out of range.

Wilkins darts in and clinches Belenus up against the cage.

Wilkins has had enough of the clinch but Belenus keeps him there for the moment.

Belenus keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wilkins's efforts to push away.

Wilkins is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Belenus is defending well.

Belenus throws a head punch that misses.

Belenus pulls Wilkins into guard.
Wilkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Wilkins won't allow Belenus to sweep him here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Belenus is on top in guard.

Belenus trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Belenus trying to control but Wilkins is working from the bottom.
Belenus wants to get up but he can't break Wilkins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belenus wants to control from the top but Wilkins keeps moving.
Wilkins wants to sweep here but Belenus controlling him for the moment.
Wilkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belenus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Belenus trying to control but Wilkins is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zephyrus Belenus dominated that round.

A frustrated look appears on Wilkins's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Belenus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wilkins can do to turn this around?
Belenus lands with a light punch inside.
Wilkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Belenus walks away with a smile on his face. Wilkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Belenus connects with a jab.
Belenus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wilkins is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Belenus.

Belenus gets caught napping as Wilkins dives in and scores a takedown. Belenus manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wilkins stands up over Belenus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Belenus pulls Wilkins in close to prevent any damage.

Belenus has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Wilkins should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Belenus has tightened it up now! Wilkins should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
