PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mugsy Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Gene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keller comes to the cage accompanied by Survival of the Fittest by Mobb Deep. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keller dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gene looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Keller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Keller breaks the clinch.
Gene takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Keller scores with a hook.
Keller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Keller appears to be looking for a big counter.
Keller scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Keller goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Keller lands a jab to the head.
Gene looks to land a body kick but Keller moved away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gene fails with an attempt to clinch.

Keller throws out a powerful jab.
Gene throws a jab when Keller was well out of range.
Gene takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gene shoots in looking for a takedown but Keller manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gene's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gene tries to clinch but Keller moves away
and Keller counters with a head kick. That will keep Gene thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

It looks like Frank Gene has been cut.
Keller has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Dead North Bombers Club in the buildup to the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Keller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gene.
Gene looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gene.
Keller lands a really nice looking cross but Gene seems unphased.
Gene shoots in but no luck this time.
Mugsy Keller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Gene.
Gene dives in for a single leg takedown but Keller sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Keller bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gene's head.
Gene tries for a takedown but Keller circles away easily
and Keller counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Gene is rocked!
Keller is looking to slow Gene down with leg kicks.
Mugsy Keller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gene or perhaps it was just good defense by Keller, which made it look bad.
Keller slaps away a takedown attempt from Gene, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Keller is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Gene looks winded!
Keller scores with a hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gene is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Keller has managed to clinch.
Gene misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Still in the clinch, Keller scores with a nice short uppercut.
Keller cracks Gene with a nice body shot.
Gene's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Keller manages to break the clinch.
Keller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Keller stuns Gene with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gene tries to clinch up.
Keller chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Keller lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Keller lands with a nice body punch.

Keller closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Keller digs a right hand underneath Gene's ribcage. Gene let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Keller blocks an uppercut.
Keller pushes Gene back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Keller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Keller is looking to slow Gene down with leg kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Keller connects with a body shot.
Good shot there by Keller.
Gene takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gene pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Keller moves into the clinch.
Keller lands with a right to the head.
Keller lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Keller lands with a right to the head.
Keller lands with a short shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Keller prevents the takedown attempt.
A short body shot lands from Keller as the two fighters clinch.
Keller makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Keller lands with a left to the head.

Keller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Keller scores with a jab to the body.
Gene takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Keller.

Keller lands a left and a right that send Gene crashing to the mat, dazed. Keller thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Gene is still on wobbly legs! Can Keller finish him?
Keller pounces like a tiger and cracks Gene with a vicious hook! Gene is down but not out! Keller follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
