PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Son Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephan Brownie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stephan Brownie will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brownie shoots in but no luck this time.
Brownie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Figueroa tries to avoid it but Brownie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Figueroa to the ground. Figueroa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Figueroa counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Brownie is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Son Figueroa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephan Brownie.
Brownie lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Figueroa backs up against the cage.

It looks like Son Figueroa has been cut.
Brownie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Figueroa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brownie has his foot on Figueroa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Figueroa works his way back into a safe position though.

Brownie shoots in looking for a takedown. Figueroa tries to sprawl out of it but Brownie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Figueroa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Figueroa lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Figueroa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Figueroa stands up and beckons Brownie to join him on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
