Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leerose Noel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Cross has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Noel blocks a head kick by Cross.
Noel tries to clinch
and Cross counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Noel throws a shot to the body.
Noel throws a series of punches but Cross avoids them all with ease.
Cross walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Noel shoots in for a double leg but Cross sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Left hook, right uppercut from Cross.
Sloppy strikes from Cross. Those never looked like landing.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Noel enables Cross to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Noel manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Cross thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cross tightens his grip and picks Noel up, before dumping him to the ground. Noel manages to land in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Noel can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Noel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cross is controlling him.
Noel wants to sweep here but Cross controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cross lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Noel circles away quickly and effectively.

Cross stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cross wants it to stay on the feet.

Cross went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Noel pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Noel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Noel stuffs the takedown attempt from Cross. Cross gets slowly back to his feet.

Cross thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Noel if he has to take too many more of those.
Cross closes the distance and clinches.
Noel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cross throws a head kick that Noel semi-blocks.

and Cross counters with a series of strikes. Noel will be more careful next time no doubt.
Chris Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leerose Noel.

Noel tries to close the distance and clinch but Cross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cross shoots in for a takedown but Noel shows good takedown defense.

A nice side step and Noel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Cross fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Noel throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cross is trying to push Noel away but Noel has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Cross looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Noel is fending him off so far but Cross persists. Nope, Noel circles away and we're back to standing.
