The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dekro lands a head kick. Howard smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Howard tries to clinch but Dekro moves out of range.

Howard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Howard seems to be working for a kimura but Dekro defends the submission attempt.
Howard lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Howard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dekro's guard.

Dekro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Howard controls the pace.

Howard slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Howard wants to stand and escape but instead Dekro has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Howard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dekro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dekro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Howard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dekro has managed to get both his arms back between Howard's legs - danger averted.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dekro changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Howard tries to avoid it but Dekro manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Howard to the ground. Howard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Howard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
