The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira tries to clinch up.

and Almeida decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ferreira's guard.
Almeida keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ferreira's head.
Ferreira had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Almeida defends it easily.

Ferreira has momentary wrist control but Almeida slips an elbow through the middle.
Almeida makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Almeida tries to free his leg and advance position but Ferreira is retaining full guard.
Almeida keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ferreira's head.
Almeida is working Ferreira over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Almeida scores with a big shot! Ferreira's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Ferreira! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
