PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lop Lopp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koji Kanegi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Koji Kanegi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lop Lopp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Koji Kanegi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanegi misses with a wild combination.
Kanegi fails to land with a series of punches.
Kanegi loads up on a big right hand but Lopp slips the punch.

Lopp closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lopp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kanegi's head.
Kanegi has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Demon's Elite Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Lopp trying to control the position from guard on top but Kanegi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kanegi is trying to keep Lopp in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kanegi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lopp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kanegi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kanegi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lopp's guard.

Lopp has momentary wrist control but Kanegi slips an elbow through the middle.

Lopp looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kanegi is defending well. Lopp quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kanegi has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Lopp celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
