PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harald Friedricksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donkey Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Friedricksen comes to the cage accompanied by The Pursuit of Vikings by Amon Amarth. Kong has chosen Brass Monkey - Beastie Boys as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Friedricksen misses with the body kick
and Kong counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kong or perhaps it was just good defense by Friedricksen, which made it look bad.
Friedricksen tries to counter by clinching up but Kong breaks away and moves out of range.
Kong throws a body shot but no joy.

Kong lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Friedricksen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Friedricksen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kong has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kong and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Friedricksen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kong checks it well.
Kong appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Good leg kick by Friedricksen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kong shoots in and drives through. Friedricksen sprawls well.

Friedricksen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kong slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Friedricksen seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kong works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Friedricksen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kong fails to land with a series of punches.
Friedricksen jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Friedricksen feints and then cracks Kong's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kong down.

Kong tries to throw a body punch but Friedricksen avoids it by throwing Kong back against the cage.
Friedricksen presses Kong against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Friedricksen digs a right hand into Kong's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kong's gas tank.
Kong has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

A close round but Donkey Kong will probably get the nod.

Kong's corner calls for a 1-2. Kong obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Kong is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Friedricksen with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A nice side step and Kong releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Nice uppercut lands for Friedricksen. That snapped Kong's head back.

Friedricksen stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Friedricksen lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Kong to his knees! Friedricksen keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

After the fight, Harald Friedricksen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
