Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Schlemper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramirez comes to the cage accompanied by Menina te amo tanto. Schlemper has chosen Da Lama ao Caos as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Ramirez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Schlemper!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramirez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Schlemper to the mat! Schlemper manages to get full guard.
Ramirez wants to pass the guard but Schlemper is keeping the position.

Ramirez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Schlemper manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ramirez has Schlemper in his guard.

Schlemper is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schlemper throws a big elbow that misses.

Schlemper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Schlemper slips nicely into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schlemper wants to work for an arm triangle but Ramirez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schlemper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Schlemper has control of Ramirez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ramirez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Schlemper is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Ramirez is in real trouble.

Ramirez rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ramirez is looking for a sweep. Schlemper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ramirez is in trouble now - Schlemper has advanced to mount!
Ramirez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Schlemper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ramirez is just riding it out for now. Schlemper eventually gives up the hold.
Schlemper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ramirez!

Schlemper jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ramirez manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramirez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ramirez manages to get to full guard.
Schlemper throwing strikes but missing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ramirez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Schlemper drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ramirez defends it well.

Schlemper gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ramirez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Schlemper looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Schlemper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ramirez is aware though and is defending well.

Ramirez has gone for a leg lock! Schlemper slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ramirez's guard.


Ramirez has his foot on Schlemper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schlemper works his way back into a safe position though.

Schlemper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ramirez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ramirez wants to sweep here but Schlemper controlling him for the moment.

Schlemper is looking to stand up but Ramirez won't let him.
Schlemper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ramirez's head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ramirez is looking to sweep but instead, Schlemper has passed into half guard.
Schlemper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ramirez!
Schlemper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ramirez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Ramirez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Schlemper moves nicely into side control.
Schlemper looks up at the clock and then as Ramirez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Schlemper smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Fabricio Schlemper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
