Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Oliveira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida moves in looking to clinch but Oliveira pushes him off.
Machida looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Machida connects with a nice short shot to Oliveira's temple.
Machida decides to return to a standing position.
Oliveira gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Oliveira is breathing heavily.
Oliveira has a closed guard, preventing Machida from standing up.
Machida stands up from Oliveira's guard - Machida perhaps looking for a knockout.
Machida fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Oliveira, pushing him back against the cage.

Machida escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Machida tries to close the distance and clinch but Oliveira swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Oliveira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lyoto Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Machida clinches up with Oliveira and pushes him back against the cage.
Machida wants to break the clinch but can't.
Oliveira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Machida fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Oliveira, pushing him back against the cage.
Oliveira jumps guard but Machida stands there with Oliveira around his waist. Oliveira gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Oliveira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machida will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Oliveira up against the cage.
Machida breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Machida has closed the distance and engaged Oliveira in a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oliveira is trying to maintain a safe position but Machida gets an underhook and turns Oliveira into the cage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Machida wants to clinch.
A head kick from Machida lands but Oliveira takes it in his stride.
Machida rushes Oliveira and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Oliveira tries to move into range but Machida moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Machida doesn't manage to clinch there - Oliveira circles away.

Machida is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Oliveira off and has taken his back!

I really don't envy Oliveira right now.
Machida is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Oliveira. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Lyoto Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Machida counters with a nice double leg into side control. Oliveira won't be happy with that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Oliveira counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Machida is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Oliveira counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Machida!

Oliveira has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Machida's face.

Oliveira looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Machida with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Oliveira tries to pass the half guard into mount. Machida knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Oliveira lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Oliveira is pressing down on Machida's thigh, looking to free his foot. Machida is holding on for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oliveira wants to stand up but Machida has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Lucas Oliveira has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lyoto Machida is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucas Oliveira.
Well Machida has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
