The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pequeno throws out a loose jab but Wells uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wells shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pequeno as he avoids it easily.
Pequeno connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Joan Wells has been cut.
Wells fails with the takedown.

Wells throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pequeno tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wells is in Pequeno's guard.
Pequeno is looking to stand up but Wells isn't so interested in that idea.

Pequeno bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wells's head backwards.

Wells shoots in for a double leg but Pequeno sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pequeno gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wells.
Wells jumps guard but Pequeno stands there with Wells around his waist. Wells gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wells has Pequeno pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pequeno manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Pequeno might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Pequeno counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Wells closes the distance and clinches up with Pequeno, looking for a takedown. Wells pushes Pequeno against the cage but Pequeno circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Wells shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pequeno but Pequeno pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pequeno closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Wells! Pequeno dives in looking to finish! Wells is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
