Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Loens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loens kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is ring of fire. Keith Hunt has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rudy Loens's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rudy Loens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keith Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loens keeps Hunt at a distance using the push kick.
Loens swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Loens tries to clinch up but Hunt circles away and keeps his distance.
Rudy Loens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Loens moves into the clinch successfully.

Loens manages to break the clinch.
Loens looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hunt is fending him off so far but Loens persists. Nope, Hunt circles away and we're back to standing.
Hunt slaps away a takedown attempt from Loens, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Loens swats away the attempt to clinch by Hunt.

Loens clinches up with Hunt and pushes him back against the cage.
Hunt is trying to stall.
Loens wants to take the fight to the mat but Hunt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudy Loens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loens keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hunt's efforts to push away.
Hunt wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hunt is pressed up against the cage. Loens has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hunt down to the mat. Hunt avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hunt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Loens counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Loens is trying to drag Hunt to the mat but Hunt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hunt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Loens walks away with a smile on his face. Hunt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Loens misses with a takedown attempt - Hunt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hunt fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hunt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Loens.
Hunt shoots in looking for a takedown but Loens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hunt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hunt is looking to clinch.

Loens closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunt to the mat! Hunt manages to get full guard.

Loens drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hunt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Loens has Hunt in his guard.

Loens is breathing heavily.
Hunt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Loens trying to keep a closed guard but Hunt is proving a slippery customer.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Loens keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Loens is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hunt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Loens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but Loens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Loens wants to sweep but no luck.
Hunt looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Loens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Loens keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hunt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Loens closes the distance and clinches.

Loens has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hunt uses from the top position.
Loens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunt is one step ahead there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hunt stops Loens from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rudy Loens dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hunt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Loens tries to avoid it but Hunt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Loens to the ground. Loens escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Loens closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hunt quickly recovers to half guard.

Loens is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hunt is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Loens has latched onto it... Big trouble! Loens pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Hunt is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Loens!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rudy Loens!
