Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jayson Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chase has chosen All the Above - Maino as his entrance music. John Chase is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jayson Ward!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Chase!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chase changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ward tries to avoid it but Chase manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ward to the ground. Ward escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chase tries to clinch but Ward moves out of range.
Ward tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Chase counters with a takedown into side control.
Ward is being controlled here.
Ward misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Ward is trying to get back to half guard.
Ward seems a little lost for a moment, as Chase dominates the positioning.

Chase is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ward is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Chase just content to control the position.

Chase wants to control but Ward is keeping him busy.

Chase decides to stand back up. Chase steps back and let's Ward get back to his feet.
Ward stuffs the takedown.
Chase looks to land a body kick but Ward moved away.
Ward is looking to land body kicks.

Chase throws a leg kick but Ward sees it coming and moves out of range.

Chase is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Chase is looking for a kimura but Ward is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chase to get the leverage.

Ward looks to land a body kick but Chase moved away.
Ward stalks Chase and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chase's face. Chase staggers backwards, shaken.
Chase looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Chase moves out of range of the body kick from Ward.
Ward scores with a one two! Chase had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Ward shoots for a double leg takedown but Chase sprawls well. He's pushed Ward's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ward is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chase is controlling him.
Ward looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Chase puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Ward tries to kick Chase off in order to stand up. Chase Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chase wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ward keeps working.
Chase content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Ward regains half guard there - taking advantage of Chase's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Chase is tying to control. Ward wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chase might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ward kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Ward wants to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Chase seems content to control.

Chase is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Chase decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Chase is breathing heavily.

Chase fails to land the takedown.
Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chase swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ward closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Chase looks to move to half guard but instead Ward has passed into mount! Damn!

A close second round but John Chase will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Chase breaks Ward's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Chase stands and steps away. Ward gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ward stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chase swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well Ward has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
