Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janusz Andrzej (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Mcconnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Janusz Andrzej!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcconnell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Andrzej paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Andrzej closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mcconnell quickly recovers to half guard.
Mcconnell is trying to get back to full guard.
Andrzej seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcconnell tries to roll over but Andrzej keeps him under control.

It looks like Andrzej might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Andrzej perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Andrzej drops an elbow to the side of Mcconnell's head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Andrzej shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mcconnell's guard.
Mcconnell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Mcconnell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Mcconnell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Andrzej is trying to stand back up but Mcconnell is controlling him
Mcconnell thows a huge punch but Andrzej dodges it nicely.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mcconnell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Andrzej's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andrzej can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mcconnell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Andrzej's head.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Andrzej gets a takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Andrzej is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mcconnell's half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andrzej seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mcconnell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Andrzej paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Andrzej shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Andrzej was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mcconnell is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Andrzej is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Andrzej takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mcconnell wants to control but Andrzej is having none of it.

Mcconnell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcconnell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mcconnell throws a strike but Andrzej rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mcconnell will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Mcconnell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Janusz Andrzej showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mcconnell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Andrzej wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Andrzej is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mcconnell will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mcconnell manages to work his way to half guard, despite Andrzej's best efforts.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mcconnell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Andrzej looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mcconnell wants to improve his position but Andrzej is controlling well.
Andrzej takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mcconnell is doing well to control the position and prevent Andrzej from advancing to side control.
Andrzej has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Andrzej is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Andrzej is controlling the pace.

Janusz Andrzej comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Andrzej has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
