PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Keith Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudy Loens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loens has chosen ring of fire as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keith Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rudy Loens!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Donatello Bradman and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loens fails to land the takedown.
Loens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hunt avoids it really well and circles away.

Hunt swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Keith Hunt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudy Loens.

Loens fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hunt to the ground. Loens is now in Hunt's guard.
Loens is working Hunt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hunt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hunt tries to get out of the position.

Loens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Loens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hunt decides to stand back up. Hunt steps back and let's Loens get back to his feet.
Loens leaves Hunt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Loens escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Loens shoots in but no luck this time.

Hunt pulls Loens in close to prevent any damage.
Hunt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Loens on the ground.

Hunt doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Hunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Loens throws an elbow that misses. Hunt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Loens's guard. Nice move by Hunt!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Loens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hunt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but Loens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Loens wants to hit a switch here but Hunt passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Loens there!
Hunt throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Loens because Hunt loaded up on that one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Loens is in all sorts of trouble here.

Hunt stands up from mount. Strange move.
Loens shoots in for a takedown but Hunt shows good takedown defense.

Hunt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hunt is trying to get an arm triangle but Loens is defending well.
Loens tries to buck Hunt off but Hunt is having none of it.

Loens feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hunt dives in and grabs Loens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Loens pushes down on Hunt's head and hops out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Loens throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hunt works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Loens looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well Hunt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
