Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pyry Perkele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holmes's entrance music is Muse: MK Ultra. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Perkele's choice of entrance music: Perkele . The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkele turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
We've been informed that Perkele has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Holmes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Perkele counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Perkele connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Perkele fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Holmes checks it well.
Holmes takes a swing at Perkele's ribcage but misses.
Perkele tries a quick counter leg kick but Holmes is wise to it.
Perkele throws a lazy right hand but Holmes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Holmes takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

That kick from Perkele tenderised Holmes's leg. Holmes is trying to keep his angry face on.
Perkele connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Perkele throws the kick towards the body but Holmes avoids it.
Holmes gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Perkele is looking to slow Holmes down with leg kicks.
Perkele throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Perkele checks a leg kick.
Perkele flicks out a counter leg kick but Holmes steps away.

A head kick lands from Perkele that sends Holmes to the canvas. Holmes tries to scramble back to his feet but Perkele brings him back down into side control.

Holmes is rocked!

It looks like James Holmes has been cut.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Oh Holmes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Holmes prevents Perkele from moving into mount.
Perkele keeps trying to improve his position.

Perkele remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Holmes seems to have got his legs back now.
Let's hope that Perkele has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Holmes tries to bum rush Perkele with a series of wild strikes but Perkele uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Holmes is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Perkele throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Holmes crashing down! Holmes tries to stagger back to his feet but Perkele just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Holmes asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
