PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lee Kagawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Dundee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kagawa's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Radio Ga Ga. On his way into the cage it seems that Lee Kagawa has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lee Kagawa seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lee Kagawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Dundee!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dundee wants to clinch up but Kagawa keeps it at a distance.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kagawa.
That kick from Kagawa tenderised Dundee's leg. Dundee is trying to keep his angry face on.
Dundee on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Dundee takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dundee doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kagawa throws a leg kick which misses Dundee's front leg but catches the back leg as Dundee tries to avoid it.
Kagawa pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dundee looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kagawa just misses with a punch to the body.
Dundee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kagawa as he avoids it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kagawa.
Kagawa lands with a nice body kick.
Kagawa throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Kagawa throws a series of punches but Dundee avoids them all with ease.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dundee is defended easily by Kagawa.

Dundee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kagawa thows a body kick. Dundee tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Dundee tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kagawa counters with an outside leg kick.
Kagawa lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
An inside leg kick lands from Kagawa.
Kagawa throws a sloppy head kick and Dundee moves out of range easily.
Lee Kagawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dundee has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kagawa.
Kagawa lands a leg kick that knocks Dundee off balance momentarily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters circling a little - Kagawa finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Dundee's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Dundee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kagawa defends it nicely.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kagawa. Dundee shrugs it off though.
Kagawa explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Kagawa swats away the attempt to clinch by Dundee.
Dundee chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kagawa can pounce on him.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kagawa.
Dundee shoots in looking for a takedown but Kagawa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dundee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Dundee counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kagawa!
Kagawa manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kagawa is working for an americana but Dundee has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Kagawa was thinking about the submission.

Kagawa pushes down on Dundee's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kagawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dundee keeps working.

Kagawa is trying to work for a kimura but Dundee is defending well.
Kagawa trying to control the action but Dundee is working from the bottom.

Kagawa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dundee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kagawa.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Kagawa dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kagawa seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Dundee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kagawa throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Kagawa feints and then cracks Dundee's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dundee down.

Kagawa throws a head kick that Dundee semi-blocks.
Dundee has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Kagawa.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kagawa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dundee can do to turn this around?

Dundee is rocked!
Dundee gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Kagawa gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Dundee is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lee Kagawa!
A relieved looking Lee Kagawa thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
