Paul is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Volbeat-Warrior's call. Paul has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christian blocks a jab.

Christian has Paul up against the cage in a clinch.
Christian lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

That has opened up Ethan Paul's cut even more.
Christian misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Paul.
Christian gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Paul has hold of one of Christian's legs. Christian is fighting the takedown attempt but Paul gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Paul looks winded!

Paul drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Christian dives on top into guard.

Christian throws a strike but Paul rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Christian has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Christian wants to stand and escape but Paul is having none of it.

Paul drops back, looking for a kneebar! Christian looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Christian looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Christian!

Christian decides to stand back up.
Cappy Christian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paul looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Christian is fending him off so far but Paul persists. Nope, Christian circles away and we're back to standing.
Christian works Paul's body with a nice hook.

Christian drives through and clinches with Paul against the cage.
Christian scores a nice knee to the body.
Christian lands a knee to the body.
Christian comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

The cut above Ethan Paul's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Ethan Paul's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
I was talking to Christian's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ethan Paul's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
