Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sean McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean McCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Slice!
McCarthy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McCarthy throws a head kick that misses.
Slice goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
McCarthy lands a nice shot that snaps Slice's head back.
McCarthy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Slice gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McCarthy tries to break the clinch but Slice is controlling the position.
McCarthy has had enough of the clinch but Slice keeps him there for the moment.
McCarthy wants to get back to striking at distance but Slice won't allow it.
McCarthy has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Slice is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Slice manages to break the clinch.
Slice looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Slice is trying hard to land a takedown here. McCarthy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Slice closes the distance and pushes McCarthy back into the cage.

It looked like McCarthy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Slice counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

We've been hearing reports that McCarthy has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

McCarthy looks to land a combination but Slice avoids it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slice jumps into guard, dragging McCarthy to the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Slice manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Slice breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McCarthy fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Slice throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McCarthy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Slice takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

McCarthy seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Slice fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McCarthy sprawls well initially but Slice persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Slice working over McCarthy with some ground and pound. McCarthy looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Slice is keen to just control but McCarthy is a slippery customer.
McCarthy tries to kick Slice off but Slice keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slice might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McCarthy haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

McCarthy is bucking up trying to escape but Slice cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slice tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Slice prevents McCarthy from getting the reversal.
Slice wants to control the pace but McCarthy is squirming around nicely.

Slice swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McCarthy is now in Slice's guard. A big mistake from Slice there, giving up the dominant position!

Kimbo Slice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Slice shoots in looking for a takedown but McCarthy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Slice's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCarthy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
McCarthy throws a head kick that misses.
McCarthy slaps away a takedown attempt from Slice, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Slice seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McCarthy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Slice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Slice must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Slice shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McCarthy defends it nicely.
McCarthy lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Slice closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Slice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slice fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
McCarthy drops down looking for a counter takedown but Slice sprawls and moves away.
McCarthy shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Slice eats them both and turns towards McCarthy to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McCarthy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slice circles away quickly and effectively.
McCarthy shoots for a takedown but Slice saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Slice misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close third round but Kimbo Slice just about did enough to take it.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


McCarthy lands with a cross.
Slice lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Slice darts in looking for a takedown but McCarthy gets double underhooks and turns Slice into the cage.
Slice lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McCarthy circles away quickly and effectively.
McCarthy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Despite the aggression on Slice's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Slice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McCarthy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Slice has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but McCarthy is on him like a limpet, forcing Slice back against the cage.

Slice misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McCarthy attempts a counter takedown but Slice avoids it well and moves away.

McCarthy scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I would just about give that final round to Kimbo Slice.
