Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrey Lapis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasiliy Khrapov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lapis comes to the cage accompanied by Once Solemn . Khrapov has chosen Rocky road to Dublin (RUS) as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrey Lapis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasiliy Khrapov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khrapov throws a nice looking combination but Lapis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lapis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Khrapov did well to prevent Lapis getting side control.

Khrapov is defending against the submission attempts here by Lapis.
Khrapov is looking for a sweep. Lapis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lapis is looking for a kimura here.
Lapis is trying to control. Khrapov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lapis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Khrapov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lapis is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Khrapov as he works his way to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lapis wants to sweep but no luck.

Khrapov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lapis looking for a guillotine here but Khrapov defends easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lapis is on top in guard.

Khrapov keeping moving, preventing Lapis from controlling successfully.
Khrapov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lapis pushing down on Khrapov's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Lapis is looking to pass Khrapov's guard but actually Khrapov recovers to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lapis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Khrapov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lapis, into his guard.

Khrapov postures up and lands a big shot to Lapis's brow.
Khrapov cracks Lapis with a solid left hand.
Khrapov throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khrapov trying to control but Lapis is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lapis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrey Lapis dominated that round.
That's time! Lapis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lapis misses with a hook to the body

and Khrapov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A short left from Khrapov.
Khrapov stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Lapis tries for a takedown but Khrapov manages to get underhooks.
Lapis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Khrapov pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Lapis is trying to break the clinch but Khrapov has him pressed against the cage.
Khrapov misses with a hook from the clinch.
Lapis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Khrapov walks away with a smile on his face. Lapis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrey Lapis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khrapov lands a glancing blow to the side of Lapis's head.
Lapis has been working on his balance at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Khrapov.
Khrapov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Khrapov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lapis ducks right into an uppercut from Khrapov.
Khrapov tries to clinch up.

Lapis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Khrapov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Khrapov seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Andrey Lapis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lapis wants to control from the top but Khrapov keeps moving.

Khrapov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Lapis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Khrapov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lapis has Khrapov in his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khrapov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Khrapov won't allow Lapis to sweep him here.
Khrapov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lapis's head.

Lapis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Khrapov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lapis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Khrapov throws a big elbow that misses.

Khrapov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lapis has momentary wrist control but Khrapov slips an elbow through the middle.
Khrapov landing some decent shots from guard.
Lapis looking to control.

Khrapov is sitting in close to Lapis's body. Lapis has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Khrapov is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Khrapov is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Lapis.
