PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Enrique Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis has chosen Coward - Black Light Burns as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ryan Lewis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Enrique Waters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lewis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Waters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Waters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Waters knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground.
Waters trying to keep a closed guard but Lewis is proving a slippery customer.

Lewis advances to half guard.

Waters keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lewis is nestled in close to Waters, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Lewis trying to mount his opponent but Waters defends it.

Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Waters keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Waters takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Lewis gets the takedown into side control.
Lewis is looking to take a break and control but Waters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Waters is looking for a sweep.
Lewis scoring with punches from side control.
Lewis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Lewis stands up and we're back to a striking position.

You can see the frustration on Waters's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lewis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Waters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's time! Waters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Waters throws a leg kick that is checked
and Lewis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Lewis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lewis gets a takedown into half guard.
Lewis is controlling the pace.

Ryan Lewis has got the better of the ground game so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Waters knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Waters prevents Lewis from improving position.
Waters tries to buck Lewis off but Lewis is having none of it.

Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Waters keeps working.

Lewis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Lewis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Lewis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Waters manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lewis is breathing heavily.

Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Waters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Waters dives on top into guard.


Lewis has his feet on Waters's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Waters gets tackled into the cage by Lewis. Lewis maintains the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Lewis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Lewis rushes Waters and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Waters jumps guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lewis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Waters sprawls well initially but Lewis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lewis is looking for a kimura here.
Lewis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lewis passes into side control, despite Waters's attempt to control the position.

Lewis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lewis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Waters on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Lewis wants to control but Waters is keeping him busy.
Waters being controlled for a moment.

Lewis decides to stand back up. Lewis steps back and let's Waters get back to his feet.

Lewis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nice elbow from Waters.
Waters is looking for a takedown.

Lewis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lewis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Waters quickly recovers to half guard.
Lewis throwing shots but Waters is blocking nicely.

Lewis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Waters trying to control from the bottom.
Lewis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lewis lands a big elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Lewis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lewis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
