PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masaru Shimabukuro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shimabukuro kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Warrior. On his way into the cage it seems that Masaru Shimabukuro has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Masaru Shimabukuro seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Shimabukuro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon DeLaurier!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

No joy there for DeLaurier, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shimabukuro throws a big counter combination but DeLaurier scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Shimabukuro gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shimabukuro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst DeLaurier is controlling him.

DeLaurier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shimabukuro's waist but Shimabukuro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DeLaurier off to one side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

DeLaurier is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round!
DeLaurier tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shimabukuro swivels and escapes.
DeLaurier is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimabukuro finish him?
DeLaurier glances at the clock... BAM! Shimabukuro nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends DeLaurier crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, DeLaurier is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Masaru Shimabukuro!
A relieved looking Masaru Shimabukuro thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
