PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darrin Dalton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darrin Dalton!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee moves into the clinch.
Lee lands with a short shot to the head.

Dalton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lee scores with a takedown into Dalton's guard.
Lee wants to control from the top but Dalton keeps moving.
Lee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Lee seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dalton for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee gets to his feet - Dalton follows without any prompting.
A punch combination from Dalton misses.
Dalton misses with the body kick

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.
Lee on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Lee gets control of Dalton's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lee throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dalton escapes and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dalton is trying to ground and pound but Lee uses the momentary lack of control by Dalton to regain half guard.
Lee wants to improve his position but Dalton is controlling well.
Lee gets back to full guard.
Dalton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dalton throwing shots but Lee is blocking nicely.
Dalton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Lee is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dalton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dalton's back!

I really don't envy Dalton right now.

Lee lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Lee.
Dalton tries to escape the position.
Dalton avoids the strikes from Lee.
Lee scores with punches and elbows.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Lee controlling the positon.
Lee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Lee manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dalton on his heels. He'll look to pass Dalton's guard now, I'm sure.
Dalton controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.
Lee content to stall in guard here.

Dalton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lee controls the pace.
Lee has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dalton lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Dalton pushes Lee away with a front kick.
Lee throws a series of punches but Dalton moves out of range.
Dalton throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.
Lee is looking to counter the offense by Dalton and move into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dalton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dalton throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Dalton.
Dalton tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.
Lee is looking to counter the offense by Dalton and move into the clinch.

Lee feints and as Dalton raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Dalton manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dalton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dalton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lee is trying to keep Dalton in close.
Dalton throws an elbow that misses. Lee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dalton's guard. Nice move by Lee!

Lee trying to control but Dalton is working from the bottom.
Lee cracks Dalton with a solid left hand.
Lee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dalton is keeping the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dalton has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lee wants to control from the top but Dalton keeps moving.
Lee postures up.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Dalton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dalton wants to stand up but Lee is controlling him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lee tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dalton manages to circle out of the way.
Dalton throws a series of punches but Lee moves out of range.

Lee shoots in and bounces Dalton off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dalton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dalton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dalton!

Lee manages to get back to half guard.
Dalton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Lee trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Dalton manages to pass to mount!
Dalton throws a wild left hand from mount and Lee manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Lee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lee is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dalton pulls his head out easily.
Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dalton can do to turn this around?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee is looking to improve his position.
Lee moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dalton wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Dalton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dalton postures up and lands a big shot to Lee's brow.

Lee has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dalton off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Dalton lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Lee has Dalton pressed against the cage, preventing Dalton from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Dalton stops a takedown attempt from Lee.
Dalton prevents a takedown attempt there.

Dalton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dalton's corner calls for a 1-2. Dalton obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Darrin Dalton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dalton moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Bruce Lee has been cut.
Dalton tries to land a front kick but Lee steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lee wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dalton throws the kick towards the body but Lee avoids it.
Dalton tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.
Dalton throws a series of punches but Lee moves out of range.
Dalton misses with a combination
and Lee counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dalton is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Dalton circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dalton lands with a slapping head kick.
Dalton throws a push kick but Lee slaps the foot to one side.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Dalton. Lee shrugs it off though.
Lee on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dalton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Darrin Dalton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bruce Lee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bruce Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dalton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Darrin Dalton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
