Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean Pierre Skogsbaer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Silvera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skogsbaer comes to the cage accompanied by Rough boy - ZZ Top. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Silvera!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skogsbaer dodges the punch combination from Silvera.
The fighters circling - Silvera throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nice sprawl there from Silvera as Skogsbaer shoots in.
Skogsbaer connects with a right hand. Silvera shakes it off.
Silvera throws a body punch but Skogsbaer moves out of range.

Skogsbaer shoots in looking for a takedown. Silvera tries to sprawl out of it but Skogsbaer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silvera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Skogsbaer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Silvera momentarily.
Silvera throws a right hand that Skogsbaer ducks under and follows up with a left that Skogsbaer also avoids with ease.
Skogsbaer moves away from the strike by Silvera.
Skogsbaer shoots in looking for a takedown. Silvera tries to sprawl out of it but Skogsbaer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silvera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jean Pierre Skogsbaer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silvera throws a series of punches but Skogsbaer avoids them all with ease.

Skogsbaer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Silvera makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Skogsbaer drops back looking for a leg! Silvera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silvera manages to kick Skogsbaer off! Skogsbaer jumps back into Silvera's guard.
Skogsbaer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Skogsbaer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Silvera is looking to stand up but Skogsbaer isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Skogsbaer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Skogsbaer stops Silvera from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Skogsbaer wants to control from the top but Silvera keeps moving.
Skogsbaer is really struggling to control Silvera but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Skogsbaer tries for a takedown but Silvera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Silvera counters with a one-two to the body.
Silvera fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Skogsbaer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Skogsbaer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Joey Silvera is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Skogsbaer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jean Pierre Skogsbaer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Skogsbaer throws a sloppy body shot
and Silvera counters with a three punch combo that has Skogsbaer backing up. Skogsbaer nods at Silvera to acknowledge the strikes.
Silvera lands with a shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Skogsbaer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silvera lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Silvera is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Skogsbaer locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Silvera is forced to tap!
