Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Marcelo Garcia!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Garcia.
Garcia wants to clinch
and Alves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Garcia missing with a left hand there. Alves was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Garcia takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Garcia throws a hook but Alves avoids it easily.
Alves slips a straight right by Garcia.
Garcia goes for a double leg but Alves avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alves continues to drive forward.
It looked like Alves was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
I was talking to Alves 's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Alves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Alves pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Garcia misses with an uppercut.
Garcia throws a nice looking combination but Alves bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alves thinks about countering with a body kick.

Garcia gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alves wants to pass the guard but Garcia is keeping the position.

Garcia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alves defends well.
Alves 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Garcia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Garcia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alves is one step ahead there.
Alves is fighting to break Garcia's control of his arms but Garcia is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Garcia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Garcia is trying to control the position but Alves postures up.
Alves landing with the ground and pound.

Alves lands a couple of elbows.
Alves chips away with some ground and pound.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Alves drops back looking for a leg! Garcia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Garcia manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Garcia's guard.

Garcia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alves throws a big counter combination but Garcia scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Garcia stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Garcia scores with a jab. Alves acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Garcia motions for Alves to come forward. Garcia throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Alves connects with a body shot that sends Garcia's belly button to the back.

Garcia has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Alves .

Garcia with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Alves to score with a decent uppercut.
Alves uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Garcia.
Alves swings for the body but Garcia moves out of range.

Marcelo Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alves takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Alves thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Garcia's head.
Garcia moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Alves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Garcia can do to turn this around?

Garcia looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Alves has picked Garcia up and slammed him! Garcia can't keep hold of the triangle and Alves manages to pass to side control!

Renzo Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garcia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alves has managed to get both his arms back between Garcia's legs - danger averted.

Alves cracks Garcia on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Garcia falls backwards against the cage. Alves follows up with more strikes that drop Garcia to his knees. Alves keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Garcia! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Renzo Alves !
A very excited looking Renzo Alves made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
