Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Astro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio El Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lenny Astro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lenny Astro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julio El Toro!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - El Toro throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nice shot lands for El Toro.
El Toro connects with a leg kick. Astro looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
El Toro shoots in looking for a takedown. Astro tries to sprawl out of it but El Toro keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Astro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A little feinted left hand from Astro on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
El Toro throws a sloppy body shot
and Astro counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

El Toro fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Astro.

El Toro will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
El Toro swings for the body but Astro moves out of range.
Astro lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

El Toro throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Astro tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. El Toro is in Astro's guard.

El Toro has gone for a leg lock! Astro slips out almost immediately though and dives into El Toro's guard.

Astro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. El Toro swivels though and keeps the full guard.

El Toro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Astro passes El Toro's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Astro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Astro wants to lay and pray for a moment but El Toro keeps working.

Astro wants to control but El Toro is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
El Toro is looking for a sweep. Astro is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Astro seems to be working for a kimura but El Toro defends the submission attempt.
El Toro is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Astro's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Astro's back!

Astro wants to control his opponent's hands but El Toro gets his hands free.

El Toro working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
El Toro is not going to allow Astro to sit and survive in this position.

Julio El Toro dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lenny Astro's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Astro throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
El Toro is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
El Toro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Julio El Toro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Astro is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by El Toro.

It looked like Astro was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
El Toro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Astro misses with a jab, cross combination.

El Toro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Astro manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
El Toro has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
El Toro is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Astro.


It looks like Julio El Toro has been cut.

El Toro is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

El Toro is trying to maintain a safe position but Astro gets an underhook and turns El Toro into the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, El Toro creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Astro swings wildly with an uppercut but El Toro uses good head movement to avoid it.
El Toro stalling in the clinch but Astro improves position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lenny Astro will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


El Toro connects with a nice looking jab.
Astro dances in with a quick combination. El Toro is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Astro snaps El Toro's head back. El Toro stumbles backwards against the cage. Astro steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with El Toro's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. El Toro just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lenny Astro!
Lenny Astro was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
