PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jabari Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuula Natsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Johnston might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to fabulous- breathe. Kuula Natsi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jabari Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kuula Natsi!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnston fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnston shoots in looking for a takedown. Natsi tries to sprawl out of it but Johnston keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Natsi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Natsi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jabari Johnston. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johnston shoots in for a double leg but Natsi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Natsi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnston looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in GDanceClub inform me that Natsi has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Natsi is looking for a kimura but Johnston is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Natsi to get the leverage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

It looks like Kuula Natsi has been cut.
Johnston throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnston shoots in but Natsi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Johnston will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Natsi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Natsi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Natsi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Johnston's shoulder. That is not cool.

Natsi swings around for an armbar but Johnston sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Natsi's guard.

Johnston drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Natsi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnston has Natsi in his guard.

Johnston escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Natsi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

After winning the bout, Kuula Natsi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
