PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Koko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Koko!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koko lets loose with a powerful body kick. Morgan will feel that in the morning.
Koko thumps Morgan with a low kick.
Morgan misses with an uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Nice straight punches there by Koko. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Koko.


It looks like Andrew Morgan has been cut.
Morgan misses with a lunging right hand
and Morgan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Koko misses with a few strikes there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Koko.
Morgan misses with a looping right.
Koko dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Koko looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Morgan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Koko slips a straight right by Morgan.
Morgan misses with a hook.
Koko tests Morgan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morgan throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Koko counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Koko lands with a thumping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morgan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Koko finds it's way round the side to connect with Morgan's head.
Koko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Koko wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Morgan misses with a right hand
and Koko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Morgan looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Morgan trying to control but Koko is working from the bottom.
Morgan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Koko is keeping the position for now.

Morgan has gone for a leg lock! Koko slips out almost immediately though and dives into Morgan's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morgan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Morgan is looking to stand up but Koko isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koko is looking to work some ground and pound but Morgan has wrist control.
Koko loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but Koko is having none of it.
Koko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koko wants to get up but he can't break Morgan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but Koko is having none of it.
Koko throws a big elbow that misses.
Morgan wants to stand but Koko is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Andrew Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koko works the jab nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morgan scores with a nice head shot.
Koko fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Morgan.
A solid leg kick lands there for Koko.
Koko lands a leg kick that knocks Morgan off balance momentarily.
Morgan listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Morgan connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Koko jabs Morgan right on the nose. Morgan blinks but takes it well.
Morgan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Koko keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Morgan.
Good leg kick by Koko there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Morgan misses with a hook
and Koko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morgan getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morgan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Koko misses with a body shot.
Morgan misses with an uppercut. Koko saw that one coming.
Koko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Morgan.
Morgan misses with a combination
and Koko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


That has opened up Andrew Morgan's cut even more.
A jab lands there for Koko.
Morgan lands a head shot.
Koko tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Morgan is able to avoid easily.
Morgan throws a jab when Koko was well out of range.
Morgan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Morgan looks to land a left hand but Koko moved out of range nicely.
Koko is looking for a counter combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Koko dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andrew Morgan's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Morgan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Oooooh!!! Morgan has knocked Koko down with a huge combo! Morgan steps away and waves a wobbly Koko back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Koko is rocked!
Koko looks up at the clock. Bad move! Morgan lands a right hand from hell, dropping Koko. Morgan pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrew Morgan!
Andrew Morgan is the new middleweight champion!
Andrew Morgan thanked the fans post fight for their support.
Michael Koko spoke after the fight, saying 'Koko sad.'.
