PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Moreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Lankari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lankari has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Moreira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Lankari!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moreira closes the distance and clinches up with Lankari, looking for a takedown. Moreira pushes Lankari against the cage but Lankari circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lankari lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Lankari tries to clinch up but Moreira circles away and keeps his distance.

Lankari not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Moreira is looking to work some ground and pound but Lankari has wrist control.
Moreira trying to control the position from guard on top but Lankari is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moreira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lankari throws a big counter head kick but Moreira avoids it with no problem.

Lankari throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moreira's waist but Moreira gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lankari off to one side.
Moreira appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Lankari shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moreira pinned against the cage. Moreira gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lankari cracks Moreira with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moreira was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Moreira comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Lankari changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moreira tries to avoid it but Lankari manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moreira to the ground. Moreira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lankari shoots in looking for a takedown. Moreira tries to sprawl out of it but Lankari keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Moreira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Moreira counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Moreira throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lankari was covering up waiting for the punch and Moreira finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Moreira seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lankari is on top in guard.
