Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Billy Blumpkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joao Beto!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beto shoots for a takedown but Blumpkin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Beto looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Beto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Beto takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Beto gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Blumpkin lands a slapping body shot.
Blumpkin lands with a cross.
Blumpkin digs a good body shot into Beto's ribs.

Blumpkin cracks Beto with an uppercut from hell and Beto crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Blumpkin's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Beto is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Blumpkin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Beto is still in real trouble! Can Blumpkin finish him?
Blumpkin passes Beto's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Blumpkin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Blumpkin is working for a kimura but Beto is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Blumpkin wants to work for an arm triangle but Beto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Beto seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blumpkin has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Beto defend it? Blumpkin steps over the head and cranks it - Beto is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Blumpkin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Billy Blumpkin!
