PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Andy Berdich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Berdich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Clay!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berdich tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Berdich somewhat.
Clay misses with a series of wild punches.
Berdich slips under a jab from Clay.
Clay scores with a sloppy right hand. Berdich should have avoided that one.
Clay misses with a body kick.
Berdich throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clay's waist but Clay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berdich off to one side.
Berdich shoots in for a takedown but Clay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Berdich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Clay tries to clinch up but Berdich circles away and keeps his distance.

Clay closes the distance and clinches.
Clay throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Clay.
Clay pushes off an throws an elbow but Berdich leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Berdich fails to pull guard.
Clay stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Clay's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Clay tries to work over Berdich's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Clay softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Berdich fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Berdich tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Clay misses with a punch to the body.

Clay lands a body punch in the clinch.
Clay misses with a knee strike.
A body shot lands from Clay.
Clay lands a hook to the side of the head.
A short right from Clay on the inside.
Clay lands an uppercut.
Clay slows down the pace here.
Clay lands a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Clay pushes Berdich back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Berdich is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Clay pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Nice body punch from Clay - that landed with a thud.

Clay prevents a takedown attempt there.
Clay lands a nice shot to the body.
Clay misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Clay lands a left hand.
Clay misses with a punch to the body.

Clay breaks the clinch.
Clay shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Clay misses the shot to the body.
Berdich looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clay is fending him off so far but Berdich persists. Nope, Clay circles away and we're back to standing.

Clay pushes Berdich back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Clay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Berdich.
Berdich jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Clay walks away with a smile on his face. Berdich gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Berdich avoids the body shot from Clay.
Clay misses with a hook. Berdich ducked under it nicely.
Clay swinging wildly here.
Berdich on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Clay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Clay wants it to stay on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Berdich shoots in but Clay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Clay is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Andy Berdich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Berdich.
Berdich closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Clay misses with a wild body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Clay dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Berdich fails with a takedown attempt.
Berdich avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Berdich dives in and grabs Clay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Clay pushes down on Berdich's head and hops out.
Clay misses with a few strikes there.
Clay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Berdich doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Berdich takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Berdich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Berdich shoots in looking for a takedown but Clay manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Berdich's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Berdich bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Clay is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Berdich off and has taken his back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Berdich is in bad spot here.
Berdich prevents Clay from getting a body triangle.
Clay is working the ground and pound. Can Berdich escape?
Berdich covers up after that shot from Clay.

Clay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Clay is hanging on to Berdich's back as he tries to escape.

Clay lands strikes from the back and Berdich isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyson Clay!
A relieved looking Tyson Clay thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
