Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Homer Simpson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cortland Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright moves in looking to clinch but Simpson pushes him off.

Simpson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cartwright was covering up waiting for the punch and Simpson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Simpson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Simpson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Cartwright looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cartwright is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cartwright looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Simpson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cartwright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cartwright is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Cartwright is nestled in close to Simpson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
