PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Philip McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Aslund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aslund has chosen The Rasmus - The Fight as his entrance music. Philip McGregor looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Philip McGregor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marc Aslund!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aslund closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Aslund lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Aslund gets through McGregor's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
McGregor wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Aslund pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Aslund drives through and clinches with McGregor against the cage.
Aslund has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McGregor has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Aslund is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Aslund tries to circle away but McGregor has him pinned against the cage.

Aslund looks to throw an elbow but misses.
McGregor prevents Aslund from breaking the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aslund gets control of McGregor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Aslund will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Aslund wants to sweep here but McGregor controlling him for the moment.

Aslund working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGregor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGregor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Aslund holds on and takes a little breather.
Aslund wants to stand but McGregor is controlling the position.
Aslund is controlling McGregor's posture.
McGregor trying to control the position from guard on top but Aslund is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McGregor is breathing heavily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aslund uses the cage to get back to his feet.

McGregor shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aslund is trying to defend but McGregor finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Aslund is doing well to control the position and prevent McGregor from advancing to side control.

Aslund tries to get to full guard but McGregor has control of the leg.

Aslund is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McGregor's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McGregor's back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Aslund slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Aslund's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
More stalling from Aslund.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McGregor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McGregor slaps away a takedown attempt from Aslund, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Aslund drives through and clinches with McGregor against the cage.
McGregor is working for takedown but Aslund is calmly controlling the position for now.
Aslund misses with a knee strike.
McGregor fails to pull guard.
McGregor keeps control of Aslund as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Aslund pulls guard successfully.
McGregor won't allow Aslund to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aslund pushes McGregor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Aslund scores with a sloppy right hand. McGregor should have avoided that one.

Aslund takes the fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aslund breaks the clinch.
Aslund looking to land some kicks to the body here.
McGregor throws a big counter combination but Aslund scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
McGregor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
McGregor has his takedown stuffed
and McGregor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip McGregor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
BOOM! Aslund lands a beautiful left hook that drops McGregor. McGregor tries to recover but Aslund is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and McGregor lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marc Aslund!
A relieved looking Marc Aslund thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
