PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Timms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rob Timms was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Park!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Timms !
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timms tries to clinch but Park moves out of range.
Park tries to counter by clinching up but Timms breaks away and moves out of range.

Park takes the fight into the clinch.
Timms is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Park is defending well.
Timms 's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Timms working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Park tries a body shot but Timms blocks it.
Timms is trying to pull guard but Park turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Park's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Park slips a jab and a cross from Timms .

Timms connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like Randy Park has been cut.

Park closes the distance and clinches.

Park pulls guard.

Timms is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Timms trying to control but Park is working from the bottom.

Park manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Park is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Randy Park has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Timms .
A right hand to the body from Park.
Park unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Park has Timms pressed against the cage, preventing Timms from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Park tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Timms tries to pull guard but Park won't allow it.

Park has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Timms regains guard immediately.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Park stands up and waves to Timms to follow him.
Rob Timms seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Timms gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Timms controls Park momentarily but Park frees himself.

Timms wants to stand up but Park is controlling him.
Timms looks winded!

Park avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Park stands and steps away. Timms gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Park fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Timms to the ground. Park is now in Timms 's guard.
Park slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Park thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Park controls from within his opponent's guard.
Park throwing strikes but missing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timms uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Park.
Park looks to score with a jab to the body but Timms is just out of range.

Park closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Timms quickly recovers to half guard.

Timms is looking for a sweep. Park is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Park could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Timms trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Park is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Timms to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Timms shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Park is landing with some decent strikes but Timms is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Park content just to control the position here.
Timms tries to hold on but Park pushes him away.

Park looking to secure an arm triangle but Timms defends it well.
Timms is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Park has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Timms 's face.

Timms wants to hold on but Park pushes him away.
Timms is breathing heavily.
Timms regains half guard.
Timms has a hand on Park's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Park takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Timms is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Park with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Park trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Park is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Timms can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Park is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Timms has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Park looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Timms is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Timms tries to hold on but Park postures up.

Timms misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Timms thows a leg kick but Park checks it
and Park counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Timms 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Timms looking for a sweep. Not yet Timms , not yet.
Timms takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Park is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Timms is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Timms has escaped and now he's on top!

Timms lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Park has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Timms is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Park.
Park is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Timms can do to turn this around?
Park tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The referee warns Park that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Timms avoids the attempt from Park to control.

Park bucks up and throws Timms to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Park shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Timms is trying to defend but Park finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Timms has one foot on Park's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Park moves into range and clinches up with Timms .

Timms drags the fight down to the ground.

Park stands up and waves to Timms to follow him.
Timms takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Park closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Park lands in his opponent's guard.
Rob Timms has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Randy Park is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Park gets to his feet - Timms follows without any prompting.

Well Park has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
