The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross slaps away a takedown attempt from Leonard , before circling back to the center of the mat.
Leonard tests Ross's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Clement Ross has been cut.

Ross closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ross lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Leonard has momentary wrist control but Ross slips an elbow through the middle.

Leonard is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ross is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ross might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ross accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Leonard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ross but Ross pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ross has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
This is a sustained period of stalling by Ross.

Ross thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Leonard can do to turn this around?

Ross stands up from Leonard 's guard - Ross perhaps looking for a knockout.
Leonard throws a chopping leg kick but Ross manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Leonard is breathing heavily.

Leonard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ross's waist but Ross gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Leonard off to one side.

and Ross counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Leonard !
Ross could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee asks Ross politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ross prefers to stall for the moment though.
Leonard takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ross has hold of Leonard 's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Leonard seems comfortable defending it but Ross has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Leonard is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Leonard is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ross couldn't care less - he's delighted!
