Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladislav Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirt has chosen Shimmy Shimmy Ya as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vladislav Volkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirt McGirt!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGirt misses with a jab, cross combination.
McGirt fails to land with a series of punches.
Volkov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGirt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McGirt wants to get back to his feet but Volkov drags him back down.
McGirt is looking to regain half guard here but Volkov keeps moving and retains side control.
McGirt tries to escape but Volkov is in control.
McGirt looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Volkov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
McGirt avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dirt McGirt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Volkov scoring well with a low kick there.
McGirt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Volkov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Volkov goes for a double leg but McGirt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McGirt continues to drive forward.

Volkov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGirt but McGirt pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McGirt shoots in looking for a takedown. Volkov tries to sprawl out of it but McGirt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Volkov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Volkov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McGirt avoids it really well and circles away.
As Volkov backs off McGirt throws a huge counter combo but Volkov manages to avoid it all.

McGirt closes the distance and clinches up with Volkov, looking for a takedown. McGirt pushes Volkov against the cage but Volkov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McGirt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

McGirt slaps away a takedown attempt from Volkov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McGirt changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

McGirt closes the distance and clinches up with Volkov, looking for a takedown. McGirt pushes Volkov against the cage but Volkov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Volkov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McGirt's waist but McGirt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Volkov off to one side.
McGirt misses with a left hand
and Volkov counters with a nice body shot.

Volkov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McGirt doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Volkov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McGirt looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Volkov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Volkov stops a takedown attempt from McGirt.
McGirt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Volkov smiles and moves away.
Volkov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McGirt.

Volkov swats away the attempt to clinch by McGirt.

This has been an exciting period of action!
McGirt drops an elbow to the side of Volkov's head.

Volkov went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
McGirt throws a series of punches but Volkov moves out of range.
McGirt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Volkov quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McGirt escapes and gets back to his feet.

McGirt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Volkov keeps working.
McGirt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Volkov has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, McGirt has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

McGirt manages to reverse the position and now he's in Volkov's guard. Nice work there by McGirt.

Oooh a lovely combination from McGirt sends Volkov down but not out. McGirt dives into side control looking to finish.
