Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ahmad Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petersen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tyson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Petersen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Nice takedown defense from Tyson. No joy for Petersen on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ahmad Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Petersen enables Tyson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Petersen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The strikes coming from Tyson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Tyson works to advance to full mount. Petersen defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Petersen bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Petersen is looking to take a break and control but Tyson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Ahmad Petersen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Petersen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Petersen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Petersen wants to take a breather but Tyson is having none of it.

Petersen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tyson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Petersen lands a couple of good shots and Tyson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tyson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Petersen wants to stand and escape but Tyson is having none of it.

Tyson stands and steps away. Petersen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Tyson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Petersen to the ground. Tyson is now in Petersen's guard.
Tyson wants to control from the top but Petersen keeps moving.
Petersen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tyson's guard.

Tyson pulls Petersen in close to prevent any damage.

Tyson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Petersen lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Petersen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Petersen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Tyson tries to kick Petersen off in order to stand up. Petersen Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Petersen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tyson can do to turn this around?

Ahmad Petersen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Petersen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
