PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Morrison Erikksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrell Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Terrell Grant was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Morrison Erikksen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terrell Grant!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erikksen throws a looping overhand right but Grant ducks down to avoid it.
Erikksen cracks Grant with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Terrell Grant has been cut.
Erikksen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Grant.
Grant keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Erikksen.
Erikksen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Grant.

Erikksen sends Grant crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Erikksen is motioning to the referee to let Grant up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Erikksen moves out of range of the body kick from Grant.
Morrison Erikksen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grant fails with an attempt to clinch.
Grant staying out of range there.
Erikksen throws a body punch but Grant moves out of range.
Grant drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Erikksen defends it well.
Grant misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Grant tries to land a front kick but Erikksen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Erikksen misses with a hook.
Grant lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Erikksen misses with a straight right.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice straight punches there by Erikksen. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Erikksen.
Erikksen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Grant misses with a leg kick.
Grant moves out of range of the strikes.
Erikksen throws a hook to the side of Grant's head but Grant sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Grant drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Erikksen defends it well.
Grant displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Erikksen throws out the jab.
Erikksen throws a big shot that misses.

Grant instigates a clinch.
Grant scores a nice knee to the body.
Erikksen is trying to force a seperation but Grant has the dominant position.
Erikksen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Erikksen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Grant jumps into guard, dragging Erikksen to the mat.
Grant has a closed guard, preventing Erikksen from standing up.
Erikksen is fighting to break Grant's control of his arms but Grant is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Grant has his foot on Erikksen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Erikksen works his way back into a safe position though.
Erikksen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Grant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Erikksen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Erikksen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grant looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Erikksen is defending well. Grant quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Erikksen has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Grant celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Terrell Grant!
Our winner, Terrell Grant, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
